Christmas Socks! TAG

Everyone always gets at least one pair of socks for Christmas and these one of the pairs I got this year. I thought it would be fun to do a little Tag post about socks.

Yet another apology from the real lazy half of Fangirls&Foundations…

This is becoming a bit of a habit isn't it? Oh well, here goes… I’d like to apologise for my absence over the past two months, whilst Alex has been working her backside off to keep the blog updated (and looking better than ever, may I add!)  I've been a tad overwhelmed with my recent workload and I admit I sort of abandoned the blog for a wee while! I've really been struggling to figure a way to balance all this new stuff that starting University and all these other new experiences have thrown at me.

However, now that Christmas is on our doorstep, things have slowed down enough for me to stop being a completely ignorant lazy idiot (and to be honest a pretty sh*te best friend to Alex!) and to actually think about blogging again! Now, I’d be lying if I said I wasn't completely lost as to what to blog about, so I thought I’d do a few little posts to show you just what I've been up to whilst I've been gone!!

Walk Me Up

I can never drag myself out of bed. Its always so cold outside the cosy quilt and leaving the lovely, warm heaven is never appealing. When it comes to getting up on a morning I've tried many techniques (not all of them were voluntary) and nothing works. I've tried different alarm tones, going to bed earlier, drinking loads of water before bed so I need to pee in the morning, exercising before bed, being dragged out of bed, having water thrown over me- the list goes on! And on and on and on and on...

Christmas Tag!

I got tagged for this by Megan who started the tag. Enjoy!

Vegan Restaurant - Pure on Raw

Back in October my boyfriend Dan and I celebrated being together a year. Dan was an absolute babe and booked us a table at a vegan cafe/restaurant in Sheffield called Pure on Raw. Now, I've been a vegetarian for 8 years but neither of us are vegan so this was going to be a new experience for us both.

Winter Essentials

I've seen a lot of posts and videos on Autumn and Winter essentials but a lot of them haven't been ideal rules to follow for me seeing as the weather here in Yorkshire can be pretty challenging to say the least. Obviously not to the fault of the bloggers, they're just lucky enough to live in nicer climates. Anyway, I decided to make a list of essentials that can handle the rain, hail, snow and whatever else the North of England might throw at it.

Quick Rant.

So the Mail Online have a new 'FeMail' section and it's all the most pointless, trivial, shit! Most of the stories featured are about naff reality T.V stars and what naff things they're doing and what naff things they're wearing. UGH!
Mail Online PLEASE TAKE NOTE:
1. It's not just women that enjoy reading this drivel, men do too.
2. Just as many women as men read the important stuff about politics ect
Don't get me wrong I do enjoy a bit of light reading about celebrities from time to time - hell we all do! But gender doesn't come in to the equation!
Rant over. Soz,

My SEVENTEEN Collection and Product Reviews

If you've been on our blog before then you've probably figured out that Shan and I are big fans of Boot's SEVENTEEN products. So here are all the SEVENTEEN products tried and tested by me -there's a lot but I'll try not to make this post too lengthy. I'll just give you basic product info and a few (probably a little biased) opinions.

The INTHING & an apology!

Hey there folks, I’m so sorry we  haven’t posted in what seems an absolute age but I don’t think neither Alex or I realised how big of a step starting uni  (and in Alex’s case moving out too!) was actually going to be! Hopefully though, as of now, I should be back to posting pretty regularly and let me tell you, I have loads of awesome post ideas! So let’s get cracking, starting with this post, let me tell you about  THE IN THING campaign.

Thursday, September 19

Sorry Folks!

Apologies for the lack of posts at the minute. I have loads of posts I've either jotted down, planned, or I've typed them up and just need to take photos! However I'm moving into my halls at uni this weekend so it could be a while till I post 'cause there is looooads to do!

So yeah, soz guyz!

~BODY IMAGE~ Part 3 of 3 ~ Pressures and Problems

We all have those days where we feel really crappy about the way we look. Being exposed to unrealistic, altered images and seeing people in the public eye caked in makeup that covers every flaw can leave us with ridiculous expectations of the way we should look. With some people this can result in a lot worse than having low confidence, here are the serious mental health issues that can effect people of any gender or age...

Give him some credit!* ft Dynamo (1/?)

source
Hey everybody! Today I've decided to post something a little bit different from our usual posts here on Fangirls&Foundations. The main reason for me doing so, is not just because I like to shake things up a bit, but also because I read a newspaper today... Now I know that sounds totally irrelevant but roll with me on this! To be frank I'm fed up of bad news. I'm fed up of seeing celebrities getting publicity from doing some weird ass stuff, some of which is bordering on disturbing ( Miley i'm looking at you girl!)

This is why I've decided to start a new series of posts called "Give him/her some credit!" This series will focus on the good things that some of the lesser known celebrities have put into our society, the ones who deserve hell of a lot more credit than they're actually getting! Now, without further ado  the first celebrity I've chosen to feature in this series has actually been around for a while however, he caught my attention rather late on compared to many other people (I know, not a good Journalistic trait eh?!) Anyway his name is Steven Frayne,  does that ring a bell? No? How about if I call him Dynamo?!

These spectacular sunnies are available on Shelley Busby's Etsy store along with a range of other handmade products. Shelley very kindly sent me these to review so here is what I thought...

~TAG~ You're it!

Hey there! Long time no speak, well, from me at least! First off I'd like to apologise for being a bad blogger and not posting in a fair while. Secondly, I'd like to apologise to Alex for going to her house to have a constructive 'blog day' which actually turned into me eating half of her freshly made Cherry Bakewells (which if she doesn't do a recipe post for I won't be happy!) as well as 2 packs of hula-hoops, a funsize pack of party rings ( I stress the 'funsize' bit as there's nothing 'fun' about those tiny packs!) and a bagel... My bad!

Anyway, enough apologising. After waking up with some new found motivation this morning, I checked our Twitter mentions to find that we'd been tagged to do the Confessions Of A Blogger questions by the amazing (She's actually my favourite blogger but shhh!) MyDogBlog09 ! Here are our my answers... (As Alex is off spending the day with her boyfriend for his birthday, and I kind of owe it to her to post anyway!)

~BODY IMAGE~ Part 2 of 3 ~ A Little Photoshop, a Big Impact

Image from here
This is the second post of the body image series and this one is about Photoshop. Anyone can download Photoshop for their computer and I personally do have and use Photoshop. In my opinion the use of Photoshop isn't a bad thing however I do think that people should be open about the use of it and the original pictures before being edited for publishing should be more readily available and easier to find. Some of this stuff is really shocking...

~BODY IMAGE 1/3 ~The Effect of Makeup

This is part 1 of 3 body image posts I'll be uploading over the space of a week. The aim of these posts is to give you a confidence boost and just to show you that you're just as beautiful as anyone else! If these three posts only help one person I'll still be a happy bunny because I believe that even just helping one person is worth this time and effort. So this first post is the dramatic difference that makeup can make, because you might not realise how average that 'smoking hot' celebrity looks when stripped of their foundation, concealer, primer, lipstick, eyeliner, mascara, eyeshadow, bronzer, highlighter....

~TREND~ Aztec/Tribal Print!

Aztec and Tribal prints are major trends at the moment and I love them! I'm not particularly girly and most patterns tend to be really feminine and involve flowers. Although a lot of these floral patterns are lovely they aren't very me. So when I saw these products I was happy to have finally found a pattern I would like to wear myself. Here are My top 3 patterned bargains..!

~DIY~ Tangle Free Earphones!

I am the most unlucky person ever when it comes to earphones! I just can't seem to find a pair that will last any longer than 3 weeks. The only pair I've ever had that have withstood the excessive battering I give them, are the original, bland, white iPod headphones that you get with your device.

Despite them being strong, due to the constant tumbleweeding in my college bag, they're forever getting tangled ( the second bane of my life after my mammoth hair knots, see the pattern?!) and well, after spending some time scouring the internet for ideas on how to prevent the constant tangling, I came across Free Peoples wrapped earphones for $40... yes, that's $40 (That's £25 ish to us Brits!) for some earphones with a bit of wool wrapped around them! No me gusta! So, as per usual I thought, I could do that and here's what I did...

Doritos get the party started!*

Where do you eat Doritos? At a festival? With a film? At a fiesta? The chances are if you're eating Doritos its because you're with friends or family and doing something fun and their new video captures that idea perfectly...

~TUTORIAL~ Quick and Easy Nail art!

After writing up a review on Maybelline's 7 Days Gel Nail Colour I decided to do a quick nail art step by step tutorial using the polish that doesn't use any fancy tools or brushes and can be done in a few minutes. So here it is...

~REVIEW~ Maybelline 7 days gel nail colour

WOW! Massively impressed with this amazing nail polish. Originally, when I bought the polish I was expecting the whole '7 days' thing to be a load of bull as it tends to be on most nail polishes but boy was I wrong. 5 star rating..!

~ Haul! ~ Bits 'n' Bobs !

I don't know whether I'm alone in doing this, but whenever I get a dinner hour at work, I like to see it as a challenge. A challenge to cram as much fun stuff into said hour, all just to raise my spirits before my return back to the ever hectic Primarni shop-floor! Now, let's be honest, there's no better way raise a girl's spirit than shopping! So, during my break I hit the high street to see what products caught my eye and here's what I found... ( Be warned it's a long 'un!)

5 Tips to a Healthier, Happier you!

1. Exercise
I heard a chorus of groans as I wrote that but calm down dears it can be fun, honest. Find what you like to do and have the time and money for whether its walking a dog or joining some type of team. If you're feeling a bit adventurous you might want to try your hand at roller skating like Shannon 80's style!

~ REVIEW~ Veet Easy Wax Roll on Kit

When I got this wax kit I was really excited to use it and wasn't really worried about the pain (am 'ard me). I found setting it up was really easy you just have to put the wax in, put the top on, stand it in the stand and plug it in. Easy! It doesn't take too long to heat up and it says it stays warm for 15 minutes if you don't want to use it plugged in. That said I wouldn't recommend unplugging the rolly thingy because although it is usable it becomes more painful as it loses heat.

~ BARGAIN BEAUTY ~ £1 Tangle Teezer alternative!

Here in my town we're "blessed" to have 3 Pound shops (As well as 5 Greggs bakeries, but that's a story for another day!) Anyway, recently on a stroll around the biggest of the 3 shops, I came across what looked to be a small plastic horse grooming brush / an over sized brush for a Barbie. However, since it was among the entirely human hair care items, I became curious and went for a closer look...

Why hello there!

Welcome to Fangirls and Foundations! A lifestyle blog written by a couple of fangirls from the North of England. We're just finding our feet on the bloggersphere and don't have a bloody clue what we're doing- as usual, so feel free to help us out by letting us know what you want to read about by commenting or emailing us at fangirlsandfoundations@gmail.com we'll thank you for it. Here you'll find things from fashion to fitness and makeup to music. It's really important to us that we run this blog in an honest way and we won't big up something that's as much good as a chocolate teapot. This is because us, like may others, have been victims of bloggers hyping up products that turned out to be shit! We've had apparently one of the best foundations rip our faces to shreds and trust me it wasn't a pretty sight. That said we aren't here to slate everyone and everything, in fact we plan on regularly posting positive body image articles and confidence boosters and keeping the moaning down to a minimum. Our main objective is probably to fill a niche by being our strange selves and helping you guys find the fun stuff we do so watch this space it's bound to get interesting.

Thanks for reading and we hope to be of help!
